San Diego/Lake Arrowhead Fires
Dear Friends,
The fires that are burning in the San Diego and Lake Arrowhead areas have caused over 250,000 evacuations in the affected areas.
The Rector of St. Mary's, Ramona and his wife have lost their home. He is a friend and preached at my ordination. Before this is over, many people will have lost their homes, work places, churches and perhaps all of us will know someone. Please keep these folks in your prayers. Pray for the firefighters, the emergency service workers, neighbors who are providing housing, and the many volunteers who will be helping.
The following is from our Bishop. If you are not able to follow the links, go to the diocesan web page directly at this address http://www.edsd.org/
This is very oriented to the San Diego need, but I anticipate the needs will be as great and very similar in the San Bernardino mountains. I will try to make connections and get information about needed help in our immediate area.
As a result of the need in San Diego, Bp. Mathes will not be here this Thursday Night. The Town Hall will be rescheduled. I have not heard about his participation with us Saturday morning.
In case you are willing and able to provide housing, there are links below. Perhaps some people will need to be relocated this far away for a time.
Finally, there will be a special offering this Sunday to provide assistance in what happens next for the victims of the fire and for our affected churches.
Faithfully,
Fr. Andrew Green
Dear Friends in Christ,
Like most of you, I ended my evening praying for those affected by two serious fires. I awoke to news that the situation had gone from difficult to grave. Our first response should continue to be one of prayer. Yet, prayer also follows action. Our diocesan staff, clergy and lay leaders are working to provide shelter and pastoral care to those affected by the fires. Please check back on this site for more information. If you need housing or wish to provide it, please contact: Hannah at hmiller@edsd.org or 619-291-5947.
At present, the following congregations have opened their doors as shelter facilities:

As a part of our diocesan prayer ministry, please link the San Diego Fires Prayer List link below. You can add a person or petition to this prayer list by sending it to me via email at bishopmathes@edsd.org. As we learn more and find ways to respond, we will communicate initiatives on this website. In the meantime, let us pray and remember who our neighbor is, and act.
Faithfully,
The Rt. Rev. James R. Mathes
Bishop of San Diego
